Poll: Half of Russians Feel Worse Due to Overtime Work

Almost a third of employees work overtime almost every day, according to a survey by hh.ru. Many of those who often work overtime note the negative impact of additional working hours on their lives.

How often do employees work overtime: 29% of Russians work overtime every or almost every day, 23% work overtime 2-3 times a week, 12% - once a week and 17% - a couple of times a month. Only 23% of respondents never work overtime.

People aged 45-54 work overtime most often, 88% of people in this category work overtime. In other linkedin database age groups, people work overtime not much less, on average 80% of the total number of respondents within each of the groups. Only half of all respondents receive compensation for overtime from their employer, most often this is additional payments, less often - an additional day off or a reduction in working hours the next day.

The dangers of overtime: 49% of workers note that overtime has a significant impact on their health, most complain of lack of sleep and chronic fatigue, 25% have noticed a decrease in their immunity, and 20% are faced with an exacerbation of chronic diseases. Another negative consequence of overtime is the lack of time for communication with loved ones, hobbies, education and personal matters.

Which sectors have the most overtime: employees in the construction and retail, logistics and manufacturing sectors work overtime most often. Sales and education have the least overtime. More than half of Russians note that overtime is typical for their profession.

Reasons for overtime: most employees work overtime during peak seasons or heavy workloads (46%), some work overtime to replace colleagues on vacation or sick leave (34%). There are other reasons:
