October is European Cybersecurity Month and we at OSI are celebrating it by publishing a new awareness campaign, this time focused on identity theft and the various associated frauds.
Identity theft is the focus of this year's European Cybersecurity Month, paraguay phone number data which is being celebrated throughout the month of October by INCIBE, as national coordinator of the European initiative ECSM #CyberSecMonth. To this end, we have developed a campaign aligned with the theme and content developed by ECSM, whose motto is “ #BeSmarterThanAHacker ” and through which users are taught to identify online risks and threats supported by social engineering techniques.
A new section on the website entitled 'Social engineering and online fraud ' is now available , which addresses the main frauds based on identity theft ( phishing , vishing and smishing ), accompanied by numerous specific resources such as comics, posters, games or images, among others.
Thus, among other aspects, you will be able to learn how to identify these three frauds through different clues; also how to protect yourself from each of them; how to check if a website URL is malicious and the main cases of fraud that circulate, such as the 'SMS of the package', 'unauthorized access detected in your account', 'where do you say you're calling me from?' or 'if you don't pay, I'll publish your photos'.
In a more fun and dynamic way, you will also have access to the ' Phishing Goose ' game.
Additionally and complementary, in this new section you will find information about many other frauds based on social engineering that are interesting to know, such as carding , sextortion or false investment platforms, among others.
In addition, on October 30, Ruth García, INCIBE's Knowledge and Awareness Technician for Citizens and Minors, will give the webinar 'Identity theft and account theft' . It will last 60 minutes and will focus on prevention and response to identity theft and account theft in digital services, a topic of great interest to citizens, as we can see from the number of cases treated in INCIBE's 'Your Help in Cybersecurity' service. In the coming days we will tell you how to sign up for the workshop and we encourage you to join us because it will be very interesting.
