16. The Great Suspender
An indispensable extension for people who have many pages open for a long time. This allows you to set after which period a tab should stop loading. The tab remains in place, with favicon and title, but no new elements are loaded in the background.

This will save you a huge amount of memory, allowing you to browse much faster without having to close your tabs.

Bonus tips from the comments
17. Smallpdf
An extra tip from the comments below this article: Smallpdf. “My life is not complete without the smallPDF extension with which I can edit pdf files. 2x per day for free, then take a zen moment

I installed the extension, tested it and I am immediately enthusiastic! Especially the options 'Edit', 'Split' and 'Merge' make this a must-have for me.

18. LeechBlock NG
Michiel says in a comment: “My favorite extension is LeechBlock. With it you can easily block all sites that distract you from your work. I mention Facebook, YouTube or Wikipedia. A top extension for maintaining your focus!

4 x fun
To end this list on a fun note, I'll share four more extensions for 'fun'.

1. Tab for a Cause
This is one you really need to have. Once you install this extension, every time you open a new tab you will be raising money for charity. The revenue from the banner ads in the tabs will be donated to a charity in the area of human rights, environment, education, water or health.

2. Googler

4. Scroll-O-Meter
This extension keeps track of how many kilometers you have scrolled in total. Fun thing is: a little figure runs along at the bottom of your screen as you scroll. After writing this article I had scrolled 0.033 km on web pages.

Do you have a good addition to this list of extensions? Leave your tip in a comment below. I'll test it and if I'm enthusiastic I'll add it to this list.
