With an average of 2,500 hours of sunshine per year, it is clear that in Spain we have the perfect setting to get the most out of photovoltaic energy. For this reason, in recent years the Public Administrations have launched different aids to facilitate homes and businesses to install panels that allow the conversion of solar rays into electrical energy. On this occasion, we want to talk to you about subsidies for solar panels in Madrid .
Due to the size of the population and the importance list of zambia consumer email of business activity in the region, the Community of Madrid is one of those with the highest energy expenditure. In 2019, it consumed around 23,000 gigawatt-hours of electricity, according to data from the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE). And the figures have only continued to rise since then.
Energy consumption in homes is quite significant, especially for air conditioning in both summer and winter. In addition, Madrid is home to a large number of companies belonging to different industrial sectors, which have high energy consumption.
In order to promote energy efficiency and reduce consumption, different measures have been implemented at the public level, among which we highlight the subsidies for solar panels in Madrid .
IBI bonus
The Real Estate Tax (IBI) is levied on the ownership of a property, and its amount is usually quite high. For this reason, the discounts on this tax are usually well received by citizens.
In the case of the Community of Madrid, there are several municipalities that apply a discount on the IBI for several years if solar panels are installed.
For example, the city of Madrid offers a 50% bonus on the IBI for three years, and a 95% bonus on the ICIO (tax levied on the execution of works, constructions and installations), if solar panels are installed in businesses or private homes.
In the case of the town of Valdemoro, the IBI discount ranges between 30% and 50% and is applied for a period of ten years. However, it does not offer ICIO bonuses for the installation of solar panels.
Not all municipalities have this bonus and, in the case of those that do, it is not always the same. Therefore, we recommend that you check with your local council to see if this type of subsidy exists for the installation of solar panels.
Deductions in personal income tax
Although this is state aid, it is important that you take it into account, because you can also benefit from it.
You can deduct part of the investment you have made in the photovoltaic installation. The amount to be deducted depends on how much you have managed to reduce energy consumption in your home:
20% deduction. If you have reduced your cooling and heating demand by at least 7%. The maximum deductible amount is 5,000 euros.
