It looks like Instagram is testing a new option that would allow country email list people to share their latest posts with their followers via DM , in order to improve engagement on the app.

The test was discovered by Hammod Oh, an app researcher. As can be seen from the screenshot posted on his Twitter profile, a new tab in DMs would allow people to share posts directly with their followers.

If this option is actually implemented, there is a risk that many people will use it to SPAM their own content , resulting in the opposite effect to the one desired.
