In this case we would be making a keyword cannibalization error by writing content aimed at searching for the same keyword.

Using the canonical tag is usually the best way to tell the Google search engine which content is the most relevant of two that deal with the same main keyword, thus avoiding a drop or loss of positioning for our content.
