The American organization Square One Villages , created in 2012, has built different housing communities to mitigate this problem and allow its guests to access a better life.

One of the projects is located in the city of Eugene, in the state of Oregon, where the number of homeless people is high. The community, made up of 22 homes, is called Emerald Village Eugene (EVE).

The costs to be borne by the tenants are less than 400 dollars (356 euros). The local newspaper of the city, Eugene Weekly , denounces that the salaries of the workers are not enough to pay the prices of the houses: “even people with jobs may not earn enough to rent an average house.”

“EVE residents will be members of a housing cooperative and have a stake in the village, allowing them to create a modest asset that can be cashed in when they choose to move,” the organization notes on its website.

“Each of the 22 houses in EVE are designed as permanent dwellings on slab foundations, and include a bedroom, a small living room, a kitchen and a full bathroom,” the Plataforma Arquitectura website notes . The dwelling has an interior size limit of 14.7 square meters.

FUNIBER sponsors a wide variety of university programs focused on offering professionals complete and up-to-date information on different constructions to alleviate current problems, such as social housing.
