The first round of applications closed on July 29th last month, and the second round of applications will begin on August 31st for the "Small and Medium Enterprise Cross-Border E-Commerce Marketing Support Project."
This call for applications is for subsidies provided by the Japan Small and Medium Enterprise Agency to help small and medium-sized enterprises create cross-border e-commerce websites. Specifically, the subsidies are aimed at businesses that want to build cross-border e-commerce websites, primarily in countries participating in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations.
Of course, content creation is necessary to build a cross-border e-commerce website, but so are expenses for translation, promotion, etc. This subsidy covers all of these, so it is a recommended subsidy for businesses who want to expand their sales channels overseas or develop their e-commerce website overseas.

About subsidies
Subsidies are almost always available if the company that applies meets the eligibility requirements. However, unlike grants, subsidies require document screening.
The documents must demonstrate the necessity of the business that will use the subsidy. Whether or not a subsidy can be received is determined by the content of the documents, so the business must prepare a business plan outlining what the subsidy will be used for and how the business will benefit society, and must be able to demonstrate this in order to receive the subsidy. Subsidies are obtained
by submitting a business plan, which is reviewed and awarded, so business owners who are considering receiving support for building a cross-border e-commerce site will need to prepare documents such as a business plan before the second round of applications for the "Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Cross-Border E-Commerce Marketing Support Project" begins.
