PM3 – a leading school specializing in digital product education in Brazil – is once again proudly sharing the results of its annual survey: the Product Management Panorama 2022-2023.
The objective of the study is to be a guide for the market , connecting current numbers with the evolution in relation to previous years , in addition to being a reliable source of data for managers and companies to build and improve the Product areas in their respective organizations.
The challenge becomes greater every year, but it is remarkable how much the community is engaged and aligned with our objective of making our country a reference in Product Management.
Here we have compiled some of the main findings of this edition. Check it out!
Conducted between August and September 2022 , the survey was distrib iceland mobile phone number uted among the largest groups and main Product communities in the country, reaching a record quorum of 2,032 respondents , also demonstrating the growth of the community and interest in matters related to the Product Management market.
The Panorama is being launched in the second half of the year with the aim of guiding trends for 2023. Although this research focuses on the Product area, we seek to bring more diversity to the market, and not just information about the careers of Product Managers and Product Owners . For this reason, responses are included from professionals in operational positions, such as Business Analysts , and also from Product leaders, such as CPOs and VPs , in addition to UX, Agilists and Developers.
All responses collected were organized in a way to provide valuable insights for professionals and companies , covering the following topics:
Demographic profile;
Career portrait;
Day to day in Product;
Relationship with other areas;
Skill set and education.
Key findings from the Product Management Panorama 2022-2023
Overall, the survey revealed improvements in terms of salaries , as well as highlighting the importance of leadership in the current moment of Product teams. On the other hand, some data follow the trend of previous years, such as the number of professionals with a background in Technology and the still timid participation of Product Marketing in the context of Brazilian companies.
Product people started earning more in 2022
The weighted average for those working in the Product area was now R$12,147 , an increase of 20% compared to 2021, when the average was R$10,092. PMs had an even greater relative increase, of 29%, going from R$10,059 in 2021 to R$13,056 in 2022. However, women continue to earn less than men, with a difference of 21% in the general average.

Leaders are earning more, especially men
Regarding leadership, the majority (37.5%) of female leaders are in the range between R$15,000 and R$20,000 . The number is higher than in 2021 and seems positive, but it is still not as good as for men: among them, the largest range is between R$20,000 and R$30,000, with 33% of respondents being male leaders.
Professionals are looking for inspiring leaders
For both PMs and leaders, the role of leadership is one of the main criteria for satisfaction with the company . Regarding the reasons that led them to leave their last company, 11.3% said that having inspiring leadership is one of the most valued conditions at work. In addition, 27.2% pointed to a lack of development and for 23.8% the reason was poor leadership .

Leadership and Analytics skills are the most desired
For 36.5% of participants, developing leadership skills is their main focus, followed by 24.3% who want to learn more about Data Analytics . In third place we have Product Growth , which appears as a development point for 11.3% of respondents.
Product Marketing is still not a focus for most companies
According to 40% of respondents, there is no Product Marketing person in the company where they work. On the other hand, 28.6% indicated the presence of 1 to 3 professionals in the role, and 15.5% said they have 10 or more Product Marketers on the team. In companies that have already identified this opportunity, the main responsibilities of PMMs are: positioning and messaging, go-to-market and Product Market Fit .
