Traditional channels, such as cable TV, may not be as accessible or affordable for a large portion of the population. But the Internet has come to democratize access. YouTube is a good example, with a huge reach and a multitude of videos, with the most varied content.
The ease of online videos – being able to choose when and where to watch colombia phone number data them, without commercial breaks – is one of the reasons for the high demand. But that’s not all. Several quality pieces of content have been produced just for the web. And they’re so successful that they’re often later broadcast on TV. Check out some examples:
Miranda Sings – Haters Back Off
Actress Colleen Ballinger created the character on YouTube in 2008. In a comical way, Miranda Sings believes she has a unique talent for music and shows off her (complete lack of) talent in her videos. The idea was to satirize arrogant singers who thought they would achieve fame and success through their channel.
The success surpassed the channel, which has more than 1.4 billion views (Miranda was even ranked as the 7th most popular personality on YouTube), and in 2016, the character gained a series on Netflix: “Haters Back Off”.
Dulce Delight Brasil – Queen of Cocada
The channel, self-titled as the first on YouTube dedicated to confectionery, shows the step-by-step process of various desserts. In a simple and fun way, pastry chef Raiza Costa presents the recipe and techniques for making delicious cakes.
Some videos became part of the program Rainha da Cocada, broadcast on the GNT channel.
Back Door
One of the largest Brazilian comedy channels, Porta dos Fundos, has also expanded its reach. With over 3 billion views on YouTube, the channel's sketches have become a program on the Fox channel.
