What does it mean to you to have a job?

Post by sakib36 »

Chilean Caterina Moretti, better known as “ La Cate ” on social media where she has created a community of almost 40,000 people, is a professional communicator and one of the faces in the fight for the visibility of people with disabilities, especially those with Down syndrome. A professional announcer from the Chilean School of Announcers, Cate seeks to banish the prejudices and stereotypes that hinder the social and labor inclusion of people with disabilities through her channels where she promotes diversity and the value of difference through humor and sympathy. Cate, who recently moved to Spain with her family, is an example that talent does not understand prejudices or labels if one is sure of oneself and has an environment that accompanies and supports you.

What was your childhood like? Did you ever feel like you were treated differently because you had Down syndrome?

My childhood was good because they believed in me from the japan phone number data beginning and not in my diagnosis. I was lucky enough to enter an inclusive school where arms were open to learn that being different is not a problem, but rather a value. A value that enriches us as a society. The truth is that I never felt discriminated against, neither at school nor in the years after. I think it is more society that imposes it on us.

«For me, having a job means more independence, more commitment, personal challenge, responsibility, listening to others and adjusting to routine»
Tell us about your professional career. Before moving to Spain, what did you do in Chile?

In Chile, I worked in communications in general. I studied voice acting at the School of Voice Actors, where I had the privilege of interviewing the first lady of Chile, Cecilia Morell, for my final project. I am also an influencer .

Last year I was working at Adecco Chile giving motivational talks to companies that were willing to open up to inclusion and believe in people's talent above any label.
