With a degree in Business Administration, Costa Rican Gianluca Brancacci has developed his professional career between accounting and the artistic world of photography. This summer, he decided to specialize in digital marketing with our certified courses. Read on to learn more about his story.
You graduated in business administration. What were your goals at the time?
I've always had many interests in different areas. First, I wanted to study medicine, then aviation, but having a father who was a businessman, and after seeing his business trajectory, I decided at the last minute to study business administration to bolivia mobile database continue his legacy and, when the time comes, take over the family business. Business administration is also a very solid foundation for any career; it's useful for absolutely everything. Sometimes it's not so much the technical aspect, but rather how it teaches you to think in a certain way .
At the same time, you started working for the multinational consumer goods company Procter & Gamble. How did this opportunity arise?
About halfway through my studies, I started looking for a job to begin developing as a professional and to see what the work environment was like. Procter & Gamble has a fairly large operation here in Costa Rica (approximately 1,700 employees), and there was a lot of talk about its good company culture and all its benefits, so I applied. It was a slow process of about nine months of tests and interviews until I got started working in the finance area. I hadn't planned on applying for that position, but during the recruitment process, a position opened up, and they offered it to me, so I decided to take it.
Your other professional profile, that of photography, is completely separate from the world of accounting. How did this passion emerge?
I firmly believe that we are all creative beings, but the world gradually draws that out of us as we grow . Since I was little, I always had a camera in hand. I remember back then, they used film cameras; you handed in the film to be developed, and after a few days, they returned the photos; a very romantic process, in my opinion. I've always loved taking photographs, and when I finished studying business administration, I spent a month or two thinking about what I could do now that I no longer had to go to university. Looking at old photos, many of them show me with a camera in my hand, I started to remember how much I loved taking photographs . Then, I started looking for YouTube videos on the basic technical side of photography to start learning something. A month later, I bought a semi-professional camera, and then I did my first photoshoot with a model, and I loved the whole process.
