Proceedings involving the Brazilian Judiciary
The ways in which cases involving the Brazilian Judiciary are processed have undergone significant transformations in recent years.

In order to modernize and streamline procedural communications issued by the courts, the National Council of Justice instituted the Electronic Judicial Domicile (DJE) , regulated by CNJ Resolution 455/2022 . This fully digital system allows individuals and legal entities to receive citations, summonses and notifications of the proceedings in which they are a party.

The use of DJE will be mandatory for medium and large companies and institutions , while small or micro companies and individuals will be able to choose to use it.

According to the CNJ, “the solution, 100% digital and free, is part of the efforts of the Justice 4.0 Program to ensure that all people have broad access to the services of the Judiciary in an agile, practical and efficient manner”.

Registration Process and Operation in the DJE
Registration for medium and large legal entities and institutions began on March 1 and went until May 30, 2024. After this period, it is still possible to register, however, with the risk of missing deadlines already registered in the system, which uses company data from the Federal Revenue Service.

Access to the DJE will be done through the Judiciary's Digital Platform, with a digital certificate, or through the gov system . Access is valid for silver or gold level accounts.

Registration must be done for the head office, branches and affiliates. On the platform, it is necessary to sign the membership agreement, with company data as reported to the Federal Revenue Service.

Important: it is essential that the data at the Federal Revenue Service is up to date to proceed with the DJE.

Communications Management and Control by DJE
The parent company can register the main CNPJ and link the CNPJs of branches or affiliates, allowing centralized control of communications. Even with a single CNPJ, it is possible to register specific emails for each unit, facilitating the management of notifications received.

According to Jusbrasil , affiliated companies have up to 30 days to confirm their link to the registration made by the main company, unlike subsidiaries, which do not require validation.
