Everything is very manual

Post by tasnimsanika1 »

Put yourself in the situation…

You've created a brand new online store thanks to SiteGround's WooCommerce course on YouTube , you've set everything up perfectly thanks to the articles about WooCommerce that we've also published here on the blog, you've launched the store with products already created and perfectly configured. Your future customers arrive at your online store, add your products to their shopping cart and suddenly, when they go to checkout, to complete the purchase, they find this...

Terrible, isn't it? How are customers going to be able to buy your products if you haven't activated and configured any payment method? It's simply impossible.

Well, that's what we're going to fix with this guide. Here you'll find out how to install, activate and configure the main payment methods for WooCommerce, each with its advantages and disadvantages, like everything else. Shall we go?

WooCommerce Default Payment Methods
Whether you have just installed WooCommerce or you already have almost everything set up, you should know that the default installation includes 4 payment methods that do not depend on adding more plugins, and that you can activate and configure to start charging for your products with minimal effort and resources on your part.

You just need to go to the configuration screen, under “WooCommerce > Settings > Payments” and you will see that there are no less than 4 payment methods available, which you can activate and configure.

Let's take a look at these payment methods that WooCommerce installs by default and how to start using them to charge for your products.

Payments by check
The check payment method, although no longer in use in Spain, is still a very common payment method in many countries, such as the USA.

If you click on the name of the payment method or on the “Settings” button, you will access the settings that you can make with this payment method, which are not many, but they are not necessary either.

This is an offline payment method , and it is said to be so, even if your store is online , because the payment is not made automatically online, but there is a process external to your e-commerce to make the payment.

In fact, this is the most offline method of all because the customer must japan whatsapp number data physically send the check to a physical postal address, yours, then you must verify that the check is valid, that it has funds, and only after cashing it can you go – now yes – to the administration of your online store and mark the payment as in process or completed.

very offline , right?

Well, going back to the check payment method settings, you simply have to activate it, either from the box on your settings page, or by simply activating the selector in the payment methods list, whichever you prefer.

Next you need to customize the texts that the customer will see, both the payment method title and description, and most importantly, the detailed instructions that the customer will only see once they place the order with this payment method, and that will be displayed in the order summary and in the confirmation email that WooCommerce automatically sends.

If payment by check is common in your country, don't dismiss it in favor of prioritizing only online payment systems. There are customers who still don't trust online payments and you could lose sales by not accepting a payment method that your customers trust, and this is one of them.

Direct bank transfer
Another common offline method is bank transfer, also known as BACS, as this too requires actions outside of your store's online dynamics to check whether the customer has paid for their order.

In this case, after placing the order, the customer must go to their bank or online banking and manually make a transfer to the account number or numbers you indicate in the payment method settings.

The configuration is very similar to that of the check payment method, as you also have to activate the payment method for it to be available, and it is also vital that you give it a visible name and description, as well as instructions so that the client has no doubts when making the transfer.
